At the feet of the Lord Jesus

1.    FORGIVENESS OF SINS – Luke 7, 38

Though the Pharisee had invited the Lord Jesus into his home, he never sat down at His feet. He wanted to sit with Him at the table. The woman had not invited the Lord Jesus to her home (perhaps she had no home), but she was aware of her biggest problem: sin. She knew she needed forgiveness of sins. She had brought her sins to the feet of the Lord Jesus.

2.    RIGHT TEACHING – Luke 10, 39

Mary knew that she had to learn. It was Martha who welcomed the Lord Jesus to their home in Bethany, but it was Mary who sat down at the Lord Jesus’ feet. Learning requires concentration. It is true that it was not Mary who invited the Lord Jesus, but she took a place which was the best for her the feet of Jesus! It was a ‘better portion’ (Luke 10, 42).

3.  COMFORT – John 11, 32

Mary experienced the loss of her brother Lazarus. She did not concentrate on the graveyard though the Jews thought she may have gone there. She understood that she could not expect much comfort from people who also had problems. Mary had occupied the right place at the  feet of the Lord Jesus. Only He is able to bring comfort. In the place of sorrow and disappointment the Lord Jesus brought joy to Mary’s heart.

4.   A CHILD’S LIFE – Luke 8, 41

The death of a child had caused Jairus to look for Jesus. He found Him and fell down at His feet. He realized that nobody was able to give life to his child. Jairus confirmed the truth that children without the Lord Jesus are dead. Even more than parents’ love, air to breathe, a roof over their heads, clothes and food, children need the Lord Jesus. Jairus knew where to go with the problem of his dead child.

5.   GRATITUDE – Luke 17, 16

Ten lepers met the Lord Jesus and each of them experienced God’s love. They were all cleansed from leprosy. They returned to their normal life. Only one of them, the Samaritan, realized to whom he should express gratitude. He came back and fell at the feet of Lord Jesus. The amazing is not that only one came back, but that the other nine did not come. The Samaritan was renewned twice: physically and spiritually. Gratitude showed his spirituality.
THE LORD JESUS IS GOD WHO IS WORTHY OF OUR GRATITUDE!

6.    VICTORY OVER FEAR – Revelation 1, 17

When the Apostle John saw  the Lord Jesus in His glory, he experienced fear. He knew the Lord Jesus, he had walked with Him, he had heard Him teach, he had ‘touched’ Him. When he saw Him in His glory, in spite of his age, he fell down at His feet! He knew well that the Lord Jesus is the First and the Last. He became silent to allow the Lord Jesus to speak. The apostle John is a great example of a person who lives for the Lord Jesus. He understood that the best place in the world is at the feet of the Lord Jesus!

THE LORD JESUS IS GOD, WORTHY ALL OF OUR LIFE AND GLORY!

James N. Spurgeon wrote:

'A job is at your choice; a ministry is at Christ's call. In a job you expect to receive; in a ministry you expect to give. In a job you give something to get something; in a ministry you return something that has already been given to you. A job depends on your abilities; a ministry depends on your availability to God. A job done well brings you praise; a ministry done well brings honour to Christ.'

This ministry is to bring honour to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!
