Recognizing the Saviour. Who He is?

John 1,1-3

Who is the Lord Jesus? Who is the Lord Jesus to you!

The Lord Jesus is Lord by reason of creation! (John 1, 1-3, Eph. 3, 9, Col. 1, 16, Hebr. 1, 1-2).

The noted agnostic, Robert Ingersol, during a visit with Henry Ward Beecher, noted a beautiful globe portraying the constellations and stars of the heavens. ‘This is just what I’m looking for,’ he said after examining it. ‘Who made it?’ ’Who made it?’ repeated Beecher in simulated astonishment. ‘Why Colonel, nobody made it, it just happened.’

He is not a part of creation, He is the Creator! He is so different from most pictures at Christmas. He is the Creator therefore He is Lord! Is He your Lord?

The Lord Jesus is the Saviour by reason of His death and resurrection! (John 1, 29, 3, 16-17).

If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an educator.
If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist’
If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an economist.
If our greatest need had been pleasure, God would have sent us an entertainer.

But our greatest need was forgiveness of sins, so God sent us a Saviour.
He is a Friend even to the sinner (Samaritan - John 4, 1-30, adulteress - 8, 1-11). As Lord He has the power to save! He is the only Saviour of the world! (John 14, 6, Acts 4, 12).

The Lord Jesus is soon to appear as the Judge! (John 5, 22, Rom. 2, 16, 14, 10; 2 Tim. 4, 1).

Those to whom He is not Saviour, He will be Judge!
We had better bow before Him before it is too late!

The Lord Jesus is a Friend to all those who allow Him to be so.

In the blessings of life (marriage of Cana, John 2, 1-11).
To the spiritually confused (Nicodemus, John 3, 1-21, Peter, John. 21, 15-17).
To the sick (nobleman’s son, John 4, 47-54, Bethesda, John 5, 1-9, Blind, John 9, 6-7).
To the hungry  and poor (5.000, John 6, 10-13).

We can form an idea of the natural distance between God and man, but the vacuum must be filled up by the Messiah! He is the Lord, the Saviour, the Judge and the Friend!

James N. Spurgeon wrote:

'A job is at your choice; a ministry is at Christ's call. In a job you expect to receive; in a ministry you expect to give. In a job you give something to get something; in a ministry you return something that has already been given to you. A job depends on your abilities; a ministry depends on your availability to God. A job done well brings you praise; a ministry done well brings honour to Christ.'

This ministry is to bring honour to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!
